Chas Everitt – Property in Cape Town South AfricaCape Town, a sophisticated city at the gateway to a majestic continent. A city where dreamers find inspiration, where lovers are compelled to return, time and time again. Always subtle, the Mother City is both exhilaratingly modern and humble. Warmed by the African sun, the city is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge. It's a place where old and new harmoniously converge BEACHES IN CAPE TOWN Cape Town has some of the superlative beaches in the world to offer, so if you're a sand-and-sea lover be sure to take some time out to relax and soak up the sun. From the family beaches on the False Bay coastline to the trendy Clifton beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard - you're sure to find a stretch of sand that suits your fancy.
The beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno that dot the Atlantic Seaboard are white and sandy offering beautiful views and spectacular sunsets. Although the water is very chilly, on a hot summer day it does make for a refreshing dip. These are generally the more 'trendy' beaches where many locals spend their weekends.
The False Bay coastline is commonly quieter and more laid-back than the trendy Atlantic beaches, but in peak-season these beaches too are very busy with holidaymakers. The water in the bay is much warmer and the shallow waters extend quite far making for safe and enjoyable swimming. Lifeguards are on duty at all major beaches and for safety will ask you to swim in designated areas. The Cape's birdlife is rich and varied and 60 of Southern Africa's 86 endemics and 42 of its 84 near-endemics occur in the Western Cape region. The Western Cape is also home to varied habitats including fynbos, forest and wetlands. NEARBY TOWNS AND AREA While Cape Town is an admirable base to start from, there are also many small towns in the surrounding regions. The Breede River Valley towns are set amongst majestic mountains, vineyards and the winding Breede River while the Overberg Region stretches from mountains through orchards and wheatlands and as far as the coast. On the West Coast a more rustic coastline dotted with fishing communities.

Cape Town Weather and Climate (Temperature and Rainfall) Lying between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, Cape Town enjoys mild winters and pleasant summers. Summer temperatures in December to February range from around 15 to 27 degrees Celsius (60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit), whilst in the winter months of June to August average temperatures are between 7 to 20 degrees Celsius (45 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit). Rainfall is moderate throughout the year and there are refreshing sea breezes which can sometimes turn a little brisk during the winter. Seasons A Mediterranean climate with little rain, 11 hours a day sunshine or more and long sunny evenings sets a party mood. The Californian weather explains why Cape Town has become a favoured site for foreign film and TV crews escaping from the Northern Hemisphere winter. The prevailing Spring and early Summer wind , the South-Easter (otherwise known as the "Cape Doctor") arises as a spin-off from anticyclones deep in the Southern ocean. It arrives at the peninsula by way of False Bay, its velocity often being given a boost by the "corner effect" round Cape Hangklip. |
